It is important to realize that having saltwater fish and the aquarium is like taking care of a cat or dog. In order to take care of both the fish and their habitat you will have to work at it every single day. You will need to feed your fish and monitor the water temperatures, nitrates, and the toys and equipment that you keep inside the aquarium.
Once a week you will have to completely clean out the tank. This requires you to change the water and test it as well. Failing to do this could result in the death of your fish. This is the hardest part in care for your fish because usually the tanks are quite large and therefore take much time to clean.
With that being said these saltwater aquariums cost a few hundred dollars. This is becaue saltwater fish need special equipment in order to survive and they themselves are more exotic and expensive then freshwater fish. Also keep in mind that the saltwater aquarium could take up to 8 weeks to set up before you can even think about ordering the fish.
